<podcast:license>

What you are allowed to do with it

The license tag states what somebody else is permitted to do with an episode — share it, clip it, remix it, or nothing beyond listening. Podcast audio has always been distributed openly while its licensing stayed implicit, which left everyone guessing. Stating it explicitly matters more now than it used to: it is how a show says whether its work may be used to train a model, republished, or cut into clips, without that being decided for them by silence.
