<podcast:medium>
This is a music feed, an audiobook, a film
The medium tag says what a feed actually is — a talk show, a music release, an audiobook, a film, a course. Podcast apps were all built around the talk-show assumption, which is why a music feed in most of them looks and behaves wrong: chronological ordering, resume-where-you-left-off, chapter-style navigation. Declaring the medium lets an app lay out an audiobook as chapters in order and a music feed as tracks, and lets it choose sensible playback behavior instead of one size for everything.
What you get as a listener
The app can present a music show, an audiobook or a video series the way that format deserves instead of treating everything as a talk show.
What the show does
Declare what your feed actually is. It changes how good apps lay it out.
