Podping

New episodes arrive in seconds, not hours

Podping is a notification system that announces a podcast has published, so apps can fetch the new episode within seconds instead of polling every feed on a timer. The old model was brutally wasteful — millions of apps re-downloading unchanged feeds every fifteen minutes, and still showing you an episode an hour late. Podping inverts it: the host announces, and only the apps that care go and look. Podcasters configure nothing; it comes from the hosting company.

What you get as a listener

In an app that subscribes to it, an episode published two minutes ago turns up almost immediately, without hammering every feed on a timer. Vibral does not subscribe to it yet — see below.

What the show does

Supported by your host — nothing for you to configure. It notifies every listening app the moment you publish.

Nothing yet. Vibral checks feeds on its own schedule rather than subscribing to Podping.
